Eligibility
Built for senior practitioners. SHRM recommends at least 3 years in a strategic HR role; no degree requirement.
Format
134 questions over roughly 3 hours 40 minutes, weighted toward situational judgment at the leadership level.
Testing windows
Two per year: May 1 to July 15 and December 1 to February 15. Testing centers or live remote proctoring.

How hard is the SHRM-SCP exam?

It has the reputation of being the hardest of the four, and the reputation is earned. The situational judgment items have no lookup answer, only better and worse leadership calls. Students who complete this course pass at 90%+, largely because they have made those calls hundreds of times before exam day.

Can I skip the CP and go straight to the SCP?

Yes, if you meet SHRM's senior-level guidance. There is no requirement to hold the CP first. If you are unsure which level you qualify for, our comparison guide walks through it honestly.

How long should I study?

Plan on 10 to 12 weeks at about an hour a day. Senior candidates often underestimate the prep because the material feels familiar. The exam does not test whether you know it. It tests whether you answer the way SHRM grades it.

Does one course really cover the SCP and the HRCI exams?

Yes. Roughly 80% of the material overlaps across bodies, and the SHRM Addendum covers what is unique. Plenty of students pair the SHRM-SCP with the SPHR on one enrollment.
